INSITE - First Look at User Acceptance Testing
What happens when users finally get their hands on a new system after months of planning and development? In the case of INSITE, the early feedback has been encouraging.
The National Office and the INSITE JAD Group recently completed the first round of User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for Phase 1 of the INSITE project, which focused on the system’s new user interface and overall design experience.
The biggest takeaway from testers?
“The INSITE system feels familiar to ICOTS but is more user friendly.”
That balance between familiarity and improvement is exactly what the project team has been working toward. Testers noted several features that stood out during the process, including:
Cleaner navigation – making it easier to move through the system
Color-coded labels – improving visual organization and quick identification
Better at-a-glance information – allowing users to quickly spot important details without excessive clicking
Because the system structure felt familiar to users, testing moved quickly and efficiently. Only minor issues were identified during this phase and have already been forwarded to the vendor for review and refinement.
The next round of UAT will focus on Phase 2: the Business Logic layer. This phase will involve more in-depth testing as users evaluate the functionality behind compact activities and workflows across the system. Testing for Phase 2 is expected to begin in early July.
As INSITE continues to take shape, each testing phase brings the project one step closer to delivering a modernized system designed with users in mind.
